How to get Apple to replace your iPhone

How to get Apple to replace your iPhone

Smartphones don’t last forever. They get broken, or lost, or damaged. No matter how good their quality is, most smartphones only last an average of 2-5 years.

So what if your iPhone gets broken, lost or stolen? We will go over a few solutions below.

Can Apple replace your iPhone?

There are a few cases in which Apple may replace your iPhone or other Apple device. There’s a good chance you could receive a replacement if your iPhone is still under warranty.

What is Apple’s warranty coverage?

The Apple Limited Warranty provides coverage for your product and accessories against manufacturing defects within one year from the purchase date.

However, your warranty coverage does not cover your iPhone’s damage caused by accidents or unauthorized modifications.

How to get Apple to replace your iPhone

There are a few different ways to request a replacement claim if your iPhone still has warranty coverage. Here are some ways to do so:

First, you can contact Apple’s technical support by calling 800–275–2273. Ask for information on how to get your device fixed or replaced.

Second, you can take your iPhone to an Apple store. Bring your device’s receipt and other papers that came with it.

Alternatively, you can use their website. Try contacting staff via Live Chat. They will give you instructions to send the device for replacement or repair.

What if your warranty expired?

So what if your iPhone’s warranty coverage has expired? There is a solution to this.

The key is to purchase an AppleCare+. AppleCare+ is an insurance offered by Apple for their devices. It includes a benefit called Express Replacement Service.

Here are the steps to use this:

  1. Confirm your coverage.
  2. Contact your provider through chat or call here. If your iPhone has accidental damage, you will need to pay your “All Other Damage fees” listed in the AppleCare+ for iPhone Terms.
  3. Back up your original iPhone. It is essential for the replacement device.
  4. Return your original iPhone to them within ten days using the packaging included in their replacement and follow these steps:
    1. Before bringing your device:
      1. Ready your Apple ID password to erase your device and turn off your Find My iPhone.
      2. Ensure device battery percentage is at 30% or less
      3. Bring the receipt, any accessories that you need help with, and a personal ID.
    2. Before sending your device:
      1. Remove your iPhone from your Apple ID device list.
      2. Remove your SIM card and keep it safe. If it does not use a SIM card, contact your wireless service provider to suspend service
  5. After receiving your replacement iPhone, insert your SIM card and restore it using the backup.

What to do about a stolen iPhone?

If your iPhone is lost or stolen and you have an AppleCare+ with Theft and Loss, you can file a claim for an iPhone replacement.

Use the Find My app or iCloud.com to mark that your iPhone is lost and remove your device from your account. You can only remove it once your claim has been fully approved.
